Swain and Rands adopt Mosaic as their official charity
Bournemouth home improvements company Swain & Rands has adopted locally based charity Mosaic, which supports bereaved children in Dorset, as their official company charity. Keen to give back to the community, staff at the Northbourne-based doors, windows and conservatories company, will embark on a series of fundraising initiatives aimed at raising enough money to fund a residential weekend for twenty young people later in the year. Directors Darren Rands and Mark Swain, who are spearheading the partnership, are pleased to be supporting such a worthwhile cause, “We had heard about the good work that Mosaic was doing with bereaved children living locally so were eager to find out as a company how we could help. From our first meeting with them, we knew this was the charity that we wanted to support and the rest of the team wholeheartedly agreed with us.”
The first fundraising challenge for Swain and Rands is the notoriously difficult ‘Tough Mudder’ event, which will see their team of ten compete in a sponsored five-mile obstacle race in thick mud this September. Eager to raise even more money for the charity, they will also be donating an amount from each of their home improvements projects and will be spreading the word about Mosaic to their customers, which span across Dorset and Hampshire. Mosaic, which was launched in June 2007, was created to fill the gap in the provision of bereavement services for children and young people across Dorset. They provide counselling for those who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or loved one through any cause of death including suicide, murder, terminal illness and sudden or traumatic death. They also offer support to families facing the death of a loved one.
Local authority funding covers approximately 17% of the amount they require to support children each year, with the rest coming from grants, fundraising and donations. Laura Stanley, Fundraiser at Mosaic, is particularly grateful for the support of Swain & Rands, “Hearing that Darren, Mark and the team were keen to support us this year was fantastic news. Without the generous backing of local companies like Swain & Rands, our fundraising would be so much harder. We’re looking forward to working with them and together being able to offer help and support to the many children that need it across the county.”
Established in 2011 by industry specialists Mark Swain and Darren Rands, Swain & Rands are known in the market for their no gimmick, honest and straightforward approach to business – something quite rare in the home improvement sector. Their entire team are brimming with enthusiasm to get their charity fundraising underway for such a worthwhile cause.
